broken heart II small plate

Decorative small plate made from porcelain with an inlaid heart made from stained porcelain. The porcelain was tinted with oxides and stains to create different colours. 

The plate was handmade over a process taking three days, before being allowed to slowly dry before the bisque firing. After the bisque firing it had a light coating of transparent glaze before being glaze fired to 1240c. 

This piece is decorative as well as functional.
